Hey guys, I wanted to showcase the steps required in order to record live Mic input audio inside FL Studio. This live audio recording will be instantly placed within the FL Studio playlist.

This is a feature which I love using inside FL Studio to record vocals for songs, or sound effects.

So what are the 4 steps to achieve this?

Input the live mic input within the mixer.

Enable record "Arm disk recording" feature within the mixer.

Enable "audio recording" within the settings of FL Studio recorder.

Start recording your live mic vocal or sound signal input.

It's as simple as that. Now to make this easier I will show you guys the full guide with image diagrams below.

Step 1: Enable live mic input inside FL Studio mixer channel. Highlighted in "red" below:

Simply click on "mixer" icon and then select your mic sound input, I also want to point out guys, that you will need to have your microphone installed on your pc for this to work. I recommend using a high quality condenser microphone for recording live vocals, live instruments or sound effects.

Step 2: Enable "record arm disk" within the same channel as "live mic input" to let FL studio understand that this particular channel is where all the live audio mic input recording will take place.

Important: Also, make sure that this is on the same channel as the live mic input within Step 1, otherwise FL studio record function will not work correctly.

Simply click on record button which has been "highlighted in red" shown below in the image:

Step 3: Right mouse click on the main menu "record button" shown inside FL studio, then select the "Audio". Check out my image diagram below for more info.

Important: I wanted to point out in order to record, you will first need to select the "REC" and then also select "PLAY" to start recording, as shown below in "step-4".

Step 4: After you complete the live audio recording, your live mic audio input of vocals, live instruments or sound effects will automatically be placed within the FL Studio playlist, as you can see from my image shown below:

There you go!

It's as simple as that, to record the live mic sound input inside FL Studio.

This live mic audio recording technique can be used on:

Recording live vocals inside FL Studio.

Recording live instruments inside FL Studio.

Recording Live sound effects inside FL Studio.

Recording from another FL Studio channel with a bus input.

Recording AUX in channel input.

I hope my step-by-step guide will make it much easier to understand the settings and steps required for a live audio input recording inside FL. If you guys have any questions, please drop them below, I will do my best to get back to you soon as possible.

Hey guys I wanted to share some info with all the upcoming and new music producers to FL Studio, this is a feature which I never knew existed in FL Studio even after using FL Studio for over a decade.

In-fact, it took me like 4 or 5 years to figure this out that the Automation can be recorded separately inside a live input inside FL Studio.

So, which steps do you need to take in order to record "Automation" inside FL Studio.

Right mouse click on "record" button located at the top menu within FL Studio.

Simply select "Automation" and make sure other settings are deselected.

This will enable the automation to be recorded within a live input, including use of external hardware such as midi keyboard modulations and sliders.

Click "record" when you're ready to record automation.

What could this FL Studio record automation technique be used for?

For recording velocity automation on a live input.

For recording panning effect automation on a live input.

For recording pitch effect automation on live input.

For recording release effect automation on a live input.

For recording automation effect settings within the channel mixer.

This can also be used for cut-off, resonance, channel mixer volumes, recording mute and solo instances and list simply goes.

This feature works very well with EQ plugins, can be used inside EDM tracks to create this EQ swoosh rising sound.

I hope this feature will help you guys when it comes to recording an automation inside FL Studio.

If you have any questions, feel free to ask below, I will do my best to reply soon as possible.

Hey guys, I wanted to share some of my knowledge when it comes to making an intro for any song or musical composition project inside FL Studio.

This is quite simple, in most cases what music producers do is simply producer the main structure of the whole song which will include:

Drum kicks, snares or claps.

Percussions.

Hi-hats.

Lead chord melody of the song or track.

Main melody.

Bass or sub.

Once all of these are within the composition, I have created a quick project to showcase this, check it my diagram out below, this structure can be used for any style/technique for any genre and any style of production.

Once you guys manage to create a beat skeleton as shown above, this can now be segmented down to create an intro for the song.

To do this, segmenting out and removing some of the structure from the main song pattern will create an intro.

As you can see below: the kick, snare or clap, hi-hats, percs and bass or sub have been simply removed from the pattern to make give more lead to the chord progression and melody.

This is a technique used by many producers across many different genres.

Then towards the end section, often an intro transition swoosh "rising" sound can be used to create a difference between the intro and main song or track composition.

This is quite simple:

Select a cymbal sound and add it to the playlist within the pattern.

Double-click on the cymbal sound to get the properties (settings menu) of the sample.

Click on reverse.

this will turn a cymbal into an uprising swoosh sound.

This is a technique I have used for many years within my beat compositions.

This reverse cymbal can then be added into the end of the intro within the FL Studio playlist, check out my example diagram shown below:

Now, this transition sound may stick within the sections of grid within the playlist, to change this simple click on "snap to grid menu icon within the FL playlist" and then select "none" this will allow the "reversed transition sound within the end of the intro to be placed precisely within the position.

This can now be placed precisely within the playlist as shown below:

It's as simple as that when it comes to create a simple, yet effective introduction within a song or track inside FL Studio.

I hope my step-by-step guide will help you guys, if you guys have any questions drop them below, within this guide.

When it comes to producing realistic piano music inside FL Studio, from my personal experience as a music producer for over a decade, it's very important to start with a correct piano virtual instrument.

If any music producer, beat maker or sound designer is looking to improve their piano sound, the best way to do this is to download one of these free realistic piano virtual instrumental plugins shown below:

Native Instruments "Kontakt 8" which comes with Piano UNO

Decent Sampler Plugin - Basic Piano

These are currently the 2 best realistic and free to download piano virtual instruments.

After this, I would highly recommend music producers and beat makers to look up piano chord progression. This online chord progressional generator could help many music producers when it comes to ideas for realistic chords and melodies.

This is the best advice I could give to any music producer, sound designer or beat maker looking to make some realistic piano music within FL Studio.

FL Studio does come with "FL KEYS" but even with reverb post effects and EQ within the mixing and mastering, this piano sound output will not sound better and realistic as 2 free piano virtual instruments I have listed above.

Hope this will help you guys. If you have any questions, drop them below inside this topic and I will do my best to help out.

FL Studio channel rack is a widely used feature inside FL Studio, many music producers are not aware that they can zoom in and out of the channel rack inside FL Studio.

This will provide more input patterns inside the channel rack. Now, usually the channel rack is set up with 2 bars which consist of 8 beats.

When anyone opens up FL Studio, this is the default zoom in size of the "channel rack", image shown below:

I am not sure if many people know this, but these 2 bars which are also 8 beats can be changed to 4 bars and 16 beats with a simple click and extrude function of the mouse.

This will provide more input for drum patterns within the FL Studio channel rack.

By clicking at the end of the "channel rack" you will be able to add extra input steps which can be used to create larger drum patterns and larger patterns overall.

How do you zoom in or out inside the channel rack?

Click at the end of the channel rack inside FL Studio.

Hold down the left mouse click button.

Whist holding down the left mouse click button, drag to the left to zoom out, or drag to the right to zoom in and add extra pattern inputs.

Then, simply let go of the left house button.

It's, as simple as that!

As you can see above, the channel rack has been zoomed out to 16 beats, which is 4 bars.

Now this will allow any music producer, or sound designer to input more steps within the "channel rack", I have demonstrated this in the image shown below:

I hope you guys have enjoyed my simple FL Studio tutorial on how to zoom in and out inside the "channel rack", this feature inside FL Studio is something which I never knew when I started producing music, so I wanted to share this with all upcoming music producers and sound designers.

Hey guys, I wanted to outline a very basic feature within FL Studio piano roll, this includes the zooming in and out inside FL Studio piano roll.

Now, this feature is very important when it comes to composing music or general music production projects.

The zooming in feature inside FL Studio comes with 3 different types of zooming in:

Zoom in using the "zoom" feature within the piano roll main menu.

Zoom in using the keyboard and mouse "hotkeys" shortcuts, within the piano roll.

Zoom in vertically inside piano roll using the zoom in/out note size.

1. Zooming in using the "Zoom" feature inside the piano roll.

To zoom in to a selected piano roll pattern or single piano-scale, simply click on the zoom in icon show above the piano roll within the "main menu". I have highlighted this icon below in "red".

To zoom in inside "FL Studio" piano roll pattern for close up, simply use the mouse to make a selection "highlighted in blue" as shown below:

After letting go of the right mouse click, you should see the piano roll zoom right into the current pattern:

And this is pretty much how you zoom inside a piano roll. It's as simple as that.

Zooming in FL Studio "piano roll" using the keyboard and mouse shortcuts

If you wish to zoom inside, the piano roll using the keyboard shortcuts, this can also be achieved. All that has to be done is:

Press and hold down "CTRL" on the keyboard.

Whist holding down the "CTRL" button, use the mouse scroller "middle rotating button" and turn it up or down, to zoom in or out.

This procedure needs to be done whist holding down the "CTRL" button. If you don't hold down the "CTRL" button, this will simply not work.

To be quite honest, it took me a while to figure this out, this is probably the best way when it comes to zooming in and out of the piano roll most efficiently.

If any music producer or composer requires a more precise zooming in, then I would recommend using the "Zoom" icon showcased above with images.

Zooming in and out inside the piano roll vertically

Zooming inside the playlist using the "zoom" function is probably the best option when it comes to zooming in and out vertically.

This is pretty much the same feature as zooming in and out within the playlist function, this is a great feature inside the piano roll, especially when it comes to large piano roll compositions.

How does this "change note size" menu icon work?

Simply click inside this "change note size" menu icon.

Then whist holding the "right mouse key down" simply drag up or down.

This will simply make the piano roll appear larger or smaller vertically.

This is the piano roll playlist fully zoomed out, check out the image below:

This is the piano roll almost fully zoomed in, check out the piano roll below:

I hope you guys enjoy my full step-by-step guide with images on how to zoom in and zoom out inside FL Studio, I have done my best to explain this as best as possible.

If you guys have any questions regarding zooming in or out inside the piano roll, feel free to drop them below, and I will do my best to reply soon as possible.

Hey guys, I wanted to show a quick guide with images for newcomers to FL Studio on how to zoom in or out within the playlist.

When producing any type of beat composition, or beat making any style of song or music production project, it's very crucial to zoom in and out. This will allow the music producer to fully see their production spectrum and provide a full reference of what they are working on when it comes to music production inside FL Studio.

There are 3 main production tools which will involve zooming out inside FL Studio, these include:

Zooming in/out inside the channel rack.

Zooming in/out inside the piano roll.

Zooming in/out inside the playlist. (I will cover this section inside this guide)

Inside this guide, I decided to fully explain and cover the full steps required on how to zoom in and out inside the playlist within FL Studio, I will show you guys the full step-by-step guide with demonstrational images too, this will also include keyboard a mouse shortcuts, which I will also fully explain in details.

1. Zooming out inside the FL Studio playlist using the "zooming bar"

In order to zoom out inside the fl studio playlist, there are 2 ways this can be done, when I first started producing music inside FL Studio, I did have an issue with this, but It's very easy to understand.

This is what the FL Studio playlist looks like by default, check out the image shown below for reference:

Now let's check out this image shown below: By clicking on the "Red" highlighted bar as seen below, the music producer or composer will be able to zoom in or out of the playlist, by dragging the mouse left or right motion whist holding down the "right mouse click" button, at the same time.

This can also be achieved by holding down "CTRL" on the keyboard and using the mouse middle "scroller" at the same time, which will also zoom in and out of the playlist. I just wanted to point out guys, that this will only work if you are inside the playlist, if this doesn't work, make sure to click on the playlist first and then try.

2. Zooming in and out inside FL Studio playlist with precision, using the "zoom" menu icon.

Also, if you have a drum or melody pattern within the playlist and wish to zoom in on a particular part, you can use the "zoom" feature within FL Studio, this will enable you to zoom in to the correct drum pattern very efficiently and quickly.

First, click on the "Zoom" feature, which looks like a search icon, highlight in red below.

Then, select a drum or melody pattern section within the playlist, that you wish to zoom inside.

Simply draw a blue square around the "selected pattern" which you wish to zoom inside, using the right mouse click button, whist holding this "right mouse" select, draw your blue square around your selection, once you're happy simply let go of the "right mouse click".

Once you let go of the "right mouse click" this will simply zoom into the selection of the drum pattern or melody within the playlist of FL Studio. See the results below:

What could this precision zooming in or out be used for?

This is great if any drum pattern or WAV sample needs a correct precision style positioning, chopping up or simply a very precise trim or cross-fading.

3. Inside the playlist, you can also zoom in and out of the playlist vertically.

If you wish to zoom in or out of your playlist inside FL Studio vertically, this can be achieved by clicking on "changing the playlist clip zoom".

This "vertical zoom" feature within the playlist took me a long time to figure out, in fact, It's not very visible, and I strongly believe there are plenty of new FL Studio users who are simply not aware such settings exist.

If you wish to zoom out the playlist vertically inside the playlist, simply zoom out or zoom in using the menu icon shown above. Simply click inside this "menu icon", hold down the right mouse click button and "drag" your mouse up or down, this will zoom in or out inside the playlist vertically.

Here is the playlist zoomed out, using this vertical feature shown above, check it out below:

Also, here is an image of using the vertical playlist "zoom in" inside FL Studio, check it out below:

I hope my guide will help many upcoming and new FL Studio producers, when it comes to FL Studio playlist and zooming in or out.

If you guys have any questions, please feel free to drop them below, and I will do my best to help out, have fun using FL Studio.

Hey guys I wanted to answer this question which many music producers come across, to be quite honest this is something I used to struggle with when I started making music and producing beat compositions.

I wanted to give few recommendations on how to overcome this situation when it comes to composing unique melodies within FL studio.

Here are my main recommendations to overcoming such situation:

1. Don't think too hard on the melody.

Thinking too hard and how to make a unique melody will not only dim your motivation, it can also lead to the melody sounding very bad, it's best to relax, and enjoy this process.

Personally, I find that listening to similar songs within the genre I am trying to produce, for around 10–20 minutes before I start composing my melodies helps dramatically, with inspiration and motivation.

2. Don't overcomplicate the melody.

This is something I have learned over the years, making complex and huge melodies with many patterns will in most cases make the final beat composition complex and hard for artist singers and rappers to write music to.

Keeping simple chords and simple melody build-ups can have the opposite effect.

Keep this in mind, guys, that most music in the music industry which has made it to the top 10, contains few chords and few melodies.

In my personal opinion, keeping it simple is better.

Also, that's if you're producing beats for musical artist. If you're producing melody score for TV/Film or game sound design, it's usually required to make some unique and complex melodies.

3. Learn about music theory and chords

Most music composers and music producers don't have full knowledge on music theory, Personally, I find that after learning the basics on music theory after I started with music production, it has helped me understand on which keyboard key-notes worked together and which didn't.

This can take time, but I can now compose music by the ear, reproduce sounds and melodies as I require. I strongly believe that music theory, rhythm, scales and chords has helped me understand music composition and production a lot more.

In my personal opinion, learning what scales work together can improve the music production experience. Also saying that, some of the world's most popular music composers had no knowledge of scales, rhythm and keys, they used their creativity to compose some unique compositions.

Everyone is different, so it all depends on the individual composer/producer.

Personally, these are the 3 most crucial recommendations which I can give to all beat makers, music producers and composers who are starting off inside FL Studio.

Hey guys, I wanted to showcase a way the "FL Studio Chop" can be used to make a decent style of hi-hat rolls for any style of genre music production.

I have also demonstrated a tutorial on "FL Studio Hi-Hat Rolls Done Manually"

But, If you are eager to learn how this process of adding hi-hat rolls automatically using the FL Studio Chop feature, I will showcase the steps required shown below.

Step 1: First, setup up your hi-hats as I have shown below inside the piano roll (click on image to see it in larger format):

Step 2: Then select one of the 3 longer patterns near the end of the hi-hat rolls, as shown below (highlighted in red):

Step 3: Now, to this section of the piano roll, I will add "Chop" feature to chop this pattern up into a piano roll.

Step 4: This will open up the chop feature, within the chop feature inside FL Studio, simply select the input of 50% for the 1/3 hi-hat roll patterns, once this has be set click on accept.

Step 5: Now let's edit the 2/3 piano rolls within this hi-hat drum roll, which is the one in the middle. Let's set this one "one step to the left of 50%". This can be adjusted to how much hi-hat roll is required, but using this layout we can create a build up of hi hats, getting faster and faster within the piano roll.

Step 6: Now let's add the same technique to the last of the playlist pattern, chopping up the hi-hats as shown below:

As you can see from above, We have managed to create a build up of hi-hat drum rolls using the "Chop" feature inside FL Studio.

This is possibly the easiest way of making hi-hat rolls inside FL Studio using the "FL Studio Chop" feature, this feature can be used on any hi-hats and pretty much anywhere within the piano roll playlist.

I would recommend music producers to try this feature out, as it can tremendously speed up the hi-hat rolls production.

If you guys have any questions regarding this quick step by step fl studio guide I have created, drop a reply below, and I will do my best to reply to this topic soon as possible.
